A Work in Progress...

After taking some of the suggestions of my readers, site supervisor, and IA, I have updated my action research plan.  I am happy to report that my site supervisor is completely on board...woo hoo!  Everything is finally coming together, and I feel like I am on the downhill slide!  I would still like ANY feedback that you might have to offer.  I know that changes will be ongoing, but that is part of making the research and implementation successful!  Thanks for the feedback all of you have provided so far!!

  1. The revisions are great Casey! First and foremost, adding the word "brief" to your surveys will be incredibly effective. Teachers will be much more inclined to complete a survey if they know it will not take up too much of their already busy schedules. I know if I am asked to fill out a lengthy survey, I inwardly groan and put it off until the last minute. Also, I like that you will have the mentor/mentees complete activity logs and record information weekly. This more clearly defines what is required of the mentor and mentee. As always, this looks great! Thanks for your helpful comments on mine as well.

    1. Jessica,

I tried to comment on your research plan this evening, but it says something like "pending approval." I did it twice, so if it ever gets approved, you may get two postings from me. Do you have your followers allowed so that people can post? Just a thought as to why it may be doing that? Anyway, I hope that the post gets approved!

  3. Casey,
I LOVE the goal of your research plan. I feel that many times new teachers fall through the crack from a lack of support. Your action plan sounds GREAT. Here's a suggestion: Why not visit or call other schools to get info about their new teacher mentor progams? I know I was reading our discussion board and somebody wrote something about a "New Teacher Academy". You can replicate an already successful new teacher mentoring program.

    1. Thanks for the suggestion Jessica. I plan to do just that! My ex-assistant superintendent works in a neighboring (and larger) district. I am planning to get with him to see what they do. I also have a contact at our region 5 office. I plan to get with her to see if they offer any specific training. Thanks again for your input!
